Chunchanakatte is a small village in the Krishna Raja Nagar (KR Nagar) in the Mysore District. Chunchanakatte falls is the waterfalls on the Cauvery river. Here the river falls in two small cascades before joining again to flow as one.
The attractions in this scenic village is the Chunchanakatte waterfalls and the very ancient Kodandarama Temple. The waterfalls and the temple are related to the period of Lord Sri Rama, Sita Devi, and Lakshmana. It is believed that the waterfall is created by Lakshmana on request of his brother Lord Rama for the bathing of Sita Devi.
During rainy season the falls is very heavy and flows in its full swing and cannot be reached so easily like in the off season. Even though the falls is very noisy, the sound never reaches the Sanctum Sanctorum of the temple.

few cows were seen grazing near the temple. There are a lot of Monkeys which are not so friendly and be careful with them unless they definitely snatch your belonging.
The waterfall can be reached by road from Mysore. It is 55 Kms from Mysore. Take the Mysore-Hassan highway and take a turn at the KR Nagar and 13 Kms from K R Nagar. The place is well connected by road, even though the road is not so smooth. On the way, you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the village. Villagers are engaged in the farming of sugarcane and paddy.
The important festival is the Brahma Ratotsav and it is held on the Makara Sankranti day in the mid of January.
