An unexpected turn in the Mysore-Calicut route made my day very meaningful, in the sense I could cross the Bandipur National Park and the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. It was a pleasant journey even though it took 4 hours more than I expected to cover the distance from Mysore to Trivandrum. Here are the few snaps of my experience.

Herds of deer grazing on the grass in the Bandipur national park

A beautiful peacock is taking a stroll on the Mysore-Ootty highway

A peahen trying to find her breakfast

Very much damaged highway, which needed to repaired at the earliest.

A small river in the Theppakkadu.

Ample precautions are taken by the reserve forest authorities to preserve the forest area and to protect the elephants, tigers, panthers in the Mudumalai Tiger reserve forest. No smoking, drinking of alcohol, littering place is allowed within the reserved area. Strict instructions are given to the vehicle users that no parking is allowed nowhere except the places reserved for the same. I heard from my friends that the there were instances that the wild animals like Tiger and Elephants were seen on the roads and most of the time they were very dangerously behaved.
Next time, when you plan your journey from Mysore don’t forget to go by Mysore-Ootty highway
