Corruption in India – India is 95th country in Transparancy

by Kishore on December 2, 2011

Corruption in India is growing, people are really fed up of the system, politicians, bureaucrats, etc. We see people like Anna Hazare trying to fight with the system, introducing new bills like the Jan Lokpal Bill, but we see resistance by our so called leaders to implement measures to make our system fool proof.

We need to look at the position that we are standing today in terms of transparency. Internationally we stand on the 95th position in the world in terms of transparency, which means there are 94 countries ahead of us who have a better system to handle corruption. We score 3.1 out of 10 in terms of Corruption Perception Index (CPI). In 2007 we were ranked 72, then we fell to 87 and now we are at 95.

Recent scams like the 2G scam, Common Wealth Games scam, etc took us to this proud position and we should thank our leaders for this. We should also understand that, we the citizens of India are also responsible for this shame. We need to fight against the system, swear that we will not pay bribe and do things only according to the laws. We should not keep calm when we see somebody doing wrong things, instead fight against such people and try to clean our system.
